The beauty product set to reach $US3 billion in sales

While yet to be trusted by many a full-coverage foundation fan, BB creams are still very much in demand according to a recent forecast by consulting firm Future Market Insight. 

According to the report, the BB cream category is set to grow by 9 per cent to $US3 billion by the year 2020. Germany is currently the largest market for the product followed by Asia, which remains a high investment area for brands.

It's also been revealed that consumers with normal to oily skin are the largest demographic purchasing BB creams, with more than 45 per cent of product sales attributed to this specific skin type. Those with sensitive skin are the least likely to buy a BB cream. 

“Promoted as an ‘all-in-one’ beauty product that has been claimed to be superior to foundations and other conventional products, BB creams have been creating a buzz in the industry,” reported Future Market Insights.

“Beauty stores are still lagging behind in terms of revenue contribution and hold a mere 8% share in the global BB cream sales.”
