Goop goes virtual for this year's health summit

Forget the US$650 ticket price tag, this year Goop is going virtual for its 2020 In Goop Health summit, and the best part? It's free!

With America in quarantine due to COVID-19, WWD reported that Gwyneth Paltrow has cancelled her brand's upcoming wellness event and is offering a stripped-down, free, digital version, in partnership with YouTube.

“Like everyone, we have this strange unprecedented moment in time and have been evaluating where we can be of service,” Goop chief content officer, Elise Loehnen, told WWD.

“We want to find ways to create community and bring people together. Bringing it online for the duration of the quarantine felt like a natural extension for us and a way to introduce the content that’s at In Goop Health."

The live, one hour sessions will occur every Wednesday at 12pm PST (that's Thursday at 5am AEST). The videos will then be saved on Goop’s own YouTube channel.

“We wanted it to be accessible and a way for anyone to tune in and have a way to save the videos so that people who can’t make it can still get the content,” said Loehnen. “It won’t be technically perfect, but it’s free information for anyone who wants it.”

While tickets are no longer needed, Goop is encouraging viewers to donate to medical humanitarian organisation Doctors Without Borders, to support COVID-19.

The series will discuss all things wellness, mental, spiritual and physical health, and starts up April 22. Click here to find out more about the sessions.
