Who: Ginger & Smart
When: 10 am, May 16. The Runway, Carriageworks.

Hair: Richard Kavanagh for

Hair look: “The hair is very British inspired - it’s a bit of a tough girl look. I took my reference for the show from the suede heads - those girls who were mods but their hair transitioned into that tougher suede-head shape in the early 70s. Because the designers have these amazing fabrics they have created with prints inspired by photographs of earth from outer space, I wanted to reflect that in the hair - the hair needed to feel alive with a lot of life in it. I didn’t want it to be too plastered down or too heavily producted. I worked with Diamond Oil and Fashion Worx 12 Hairspray so the hair feels alive - it moves and is soft and shiny. We’ve swept the hair to the side to give it a bang shape feel. We’ve got a side-burn feature, a tuck behind the ear and the hair sits very compact to the head. We’ve then taken some cotton thread and stitched down the back of the hair at the occipital bone so we can create that early-70s suede girl silhouette.”

Make-up: Carol Mackie for

Make-up look: “The collection is inspired by images of earth from above - which has been created into the fabric. There are also these strong graphic lines that give an earthly movement, which we’ve created with today’s eye look that has a crescent shape representing those images. We’re giving skin a nice earth tone using the Chromacake to create it. On the skin, we’ve used Studio Waterweight Foundation which is super light and super hydrating - so it looks like it isn’t there but it perfects the skin. Softly highlighting - just making the skin glow, so the feature is the line on the eye. Conditioning the lips. We’re using a shadowy contour called Quit’trix Stick to contour as well as on the lips to nude them out leaving the focus on the line on the eye. Brows are soft and a little bit fluffy - there’s a tiny bit of definition using the Big Brow Pencil to brush those up. The designers wanted the make-up to be raw and minimal with a cool vibe.”

Nail look: “Today’s nail look is all about clear skies. The collection is inspired from looking down from space on to earth, so we’re doing clear skies - clean, clear, crisp nails. This is a high gloss clean nail - it’s called This is My Style and is just a nice sheer nude. On the toes, we have dessert rose, which is more opaque coverage but along the same lines of neutral-looking nails.”
