Who: Tome
When: 7pm, May 18. The Runway, Carriageworks.

Hair: Jon Pulitano for

Hair look: “The collection is inspired by Nina Simone. We wanted to bring in a slightly gritty, greasy texture to everything. We’re applying Shape Factor Wax section by section all through the roots so that as it starts to dry we get this really beautiful texture. All the girls are wearing turbans with a little bit of texture coming through the front and then all this great grittiness coming through the back. Key products were Shape Factor Wax and Diamond Oil.”

Make-up: Carol Mackie for

Make-up look: “We are doing a modern take on Nina Simone make-up. We have perfectly perfected skin without looking like there is any product there - a satin finish as opposed to a dewy finish. We’ve used Stormy Paint Pot on the lid of the eye - which has a satin finish. We’re applying crystals to the brows, so the eye colour makes the crystals pop against it. We filled in the brow with a little bit of Big Brow Pencil and then we’ve brushed them up so that when the crystals go on they really pop. Then we’ve used a lip conditioner and Tailor Grey Paint Pot on the lips - which is a cool tone that brings it all back and ties the look together.”

Nail look: “Tonight we chose the burgundy colour What Are You Doing Tonight to go with the collection. The designers also wanted something with Swarovski crystals to reflect what is happening in the make-up, so we’re putting a crystal on the big toes and then on every fingernail at the base by the cuticle.”
