Tried & tested: On counter in September

The BEAUTYDIRECTORY team has spent September trialling the month’s new releases. From serums to tools, read on to find out our thoughts on the hottest products to hit counters this month.

Editor’s pick: Sisley Paris Sisleÿa L’intégral Anti-Âge Concentrated Firming Serum – Georgie
What it is: Sisley Paris Sisleÿa L’intégral Anti-Âge Concentrated Firming Serum is a serum that factors in the skin’s history to kick-start its youth mechanisms, helping to delay the visible signs of ageing with powerful actions at every level of the dermis. Instantly, skin feels firmer. After two months, firming becomes advanced, with shape and contours appearing more defined. Skin feels denser, plumper and more youthful.

My experience: I was lucky enough to attend the launch of this product, during which the brand’s National Sales and Training Manager, Tonia Casswell, explained how the serum utilised complex science to help address behavioural causes of ageing. The sweet marjoram in the product targets an enzyme that switches on elastin production, so skin becomes, firmer, denser and more toned. Other botanical extracts also work synergistically so that the layers of the skin are strengthened and collage production is reactivated.

After using this product since the launch in August, I can absolutely attest to claims that skin will have significantly more bounce and tone. It is a joy to use and one of the silkiest most luxurious smelling new products on the market right now. The price point shouldn’t be taken lightly ($600 in David Jones) but, as most Sisley products are, this is a real treat for the skin.

Napoleon Perdis Dead Sea Mud and Kakadu Clay Face Mask – Emily
What it is: A Dead Sea Mud and Kakadu Plum clay face mask that assists in removing impurities and improves skin luminosity.

My experience: This is such a lovely face mask! I’ve used it twice a week and can definitely see improvements in my skin. I apply it with my fingers as I find this is easier to work the product around my face and remove it with a damp towel. After using the mask for the first time I noticed that my impurities were significantly less and my skin looked glowing! This is a mask I will use again and again.

Scunci Detangle Shower Brush – Nadine
What it is: A hair brush that features soft, flexible bristles that gently detangle wet or dry hair.

My experience: For someone with very coloured, damaged hair, the right brush is the most important thing to have. I was a bit nervous at first to use a brush on wet hair but this detangle shower brush has completely changed the way I treat and condition my hair. The bristles are so soft and after using in the shower literally none of my hair came out. It was also super helpful to spread my conditioning treatments throughout my hair. Love!

Jurlique Herbal Recovery Signature Serum – Amber
What it is: a facial serum that combats the appearance of lines, wrinkles and uneven skin tone while enhancing firmness to deliver a youthful, fresh glow.

My experience: Jurlique’s iconic Herbal Recovery range uses botanicals to fight visible signs of ageing. The Signature Serum from the range comes in a lovely red glass bottle, which hygienically dispenses a small amount of product for twice-a-day use. In keeping with the brand’s use of signature botanical scents, the serum has a lovely but subtle hint of roses and lavender. I found that the gel-like serum absorbed instantly, leaving my skin feeling instantly fresh and firm.

This serum also stands out from the pack with the use of pure and potent organic Red Clover which enhances the other key active ingredient Hyaluronic Acid.

Mellow Cosmetics Sinopia Palette – Zoë
What it is: an eyeshadow palette that is highly pigmented with a creamy and easy to blend formula.

My experience: This palette is the perfect mix of on-trend terracotta colours and shimmery, metallic shadows for after dark. Since unboxing it I’ve created warm, neutral eye looks for daytime and I can’t wait to try out very-hot-right-now electric blue shade. The formulas are easy to blend and don’t budge throughout the day; and this palette is now in my permanent makeup rotation.

Michael Kors Wonderlust Eau Fresh Eau de Toilette Spray – Tiarne
What it is: An updated version of the original Michael Kors Wonderlust fragrance.

My experience: This is the perfect fragrance coming into spring/summer! I love the fruity scent, and I definitely picked up on the lingering notes of jasmine and citrus. Every time I wear it, I receive compliments from friends and family and I’ve even recommended it to a few people. It hasn’t got a super strong smell, which is great because some perfumes can be too overpowering. It lasts the whole day with no need for touch ups! Love it!

Lady Jayne Limited Edition Shower Cap – Sam
What it is: Lady Jayne Limited Edition Shower Cap is a limited-edition shower cap by Lady Jayne in collaboration with Sally Spratt of the Lust List. It is available in three watercolour styles.

My experience: Over the last week I have trialing the makeup essentials shower cap by Lady Jayne. This watercolour style print hosts an array of lipsticks, makeup tools and luxe looking bathtubs - a few of my favourite things! Functionally the shower cap has flat edging which has always been my preference over traditional frill edging which seems to just get in the way. This pretty shower cap has taken pride of place in my shower, helping to keep my hair dry and fresh between washes.

jane iredale Triple Luxe Long Lasting Naturally Moist Lipstick™ – Jess
What it is: This is a highly pigmented, long-wearing & natural lipstick.

My experience: This is my new favourite lipstick. The packaging is gold & luxe looking, and the formula is so smooth, you can feel it moisturising your lips as well as giving them an amazing pop of colour. The shade selection is amazing, with ones that are subtle and give you a ‘your lips but better’ look, and others that are bright, fun and eye catching. Unlike other lipsticks that leave my lips feeling dry and cracked, this one genuinely feels like a lip balm, it’s that moisturising. Sometimes I find moisture-rich lipsticks bleed and run quite easily, but this is not the case with these ones. My favourite shade in the collection is ‘JACKIE’, which is a orangey nude. It’s a very unique colour and is perfect for work and day wear. Another standout is ‘NATALIE’, a bright pink that’s lovely when you want to brighten up your look. I will definitely be  getting a lot of use out of these lipsticks and would recommend them to anyone looking for a highly moisturizing, but also highly pigmented lipstick.
