BASF reveals new active ingredients to tackle ageing

German chemical company, BASF, has revealed four new active ingredients that are expected to help tackle the signs of ageing.

During Cosmet'agora in Paris, which is the professional trade show dedicated to the cosmetic industry, the company presented four active ingredients that address specific skincare concerns, such as oily skin, dark spots, fine lines and wrinkles.

The first was Bix’Activ, an ingredient extracted from bixa orellana seeds, that works to reduce sebum production and oily skin.

Neurobiox, on the other hand, is derived from achillea millefolium and restores cell communication by stimulating neuroreceptors. According to BASF, it had a very positive effect in a placebo-controlled study.

Meanwhile, DN-Aura combats pigment spots by decreasing melanin synthesis in melanocytes, which helps reduce the appearance of dark spots.

Finally, Phytosoothe is said to protect and restore the macrobiotic and physical skin barrier. This biometric active is designed to be suitable for formulations developed for babies or sensitive skin.
