New reality show to champion hair and makeup artists

The US is getting ready to welcome its latest reality TV show that sees the country's best hair and makeup artists compete against each other in a series of beauty challenges.

American Beauty Star, hosted by seasoned Victoria's Secret model Adriana Lima, premieres in the States tonight. Twelve hair and makeup artists will pair-up to compete in a series of beauty challenges each week that range from high-end editorial and catwalk looks to glamorous creations for the red carpet. At the end of the season, the contestant that proves they have what it takes to revolutionise what's to come in beauty, will be crowned the winner.

Celebrity makeup artist Sir John serves as the contestant mentor, while US Vogue's former beauty director Sarah Brown and photographer Russell James serve as the judges. Beauty industry influencers and celebrity guests will join the panel of judges each week including Youtube sensation Michelle Phan; models Behati Prinsloo, Christie Brinkley and Camilla Alves; makeup bloggers and beauty influencers The Kattan Sisters Huda and Mona; singer Michelle Williams and Teen Vogue editor-in-chief Elaine Welteroth.
