Six ways your hands can hustle for change

The Body Shop and hemp have a rich history stretching back to 1992, when The Body Shop was one of the first brands to celebrate hemp’s incredible benefits. When it comes to hydration, hemp packs a punch and is the perfect remedy for dry hands that have been busy hustling for a better world.

To celebrate the new additions and best-sellers in The Body Shop’s hard-working hemp range, the brand has launched For Hands That Hustle, a new campaign that is all about creating positive change in the community.

According to The Body Shop, our hands are amazing and hustle every day. They’re integral to the skills we learn, jobs we do and the people we help. For many, using our hands is the best way we can help to give back. From caring for family members and loved ones, signing petitions, or helping clean up our beaches, there are many ways our hands can hustle for change. These are just a few of them:

Join a beach clean-up

It is estimated that eight million metric tons of plastics enter our oceans each year. By joining in with a local beach clean-up, your hands can help remove and recycle stray plastic from our shores, ensuring it doesn’t end up in the ocean.

Get cooking

Whether through a local soup kitchen, by cooking meals for your elderly neighbours, or volunteering for a food truck, your hands can help those doing it tough, providing them with a warm meal when it’s needed most.

Knitters Unite

Knitting is not only a timeless hobby but also a way to help give back. From creating a trauma teddy for vulnerable youth, knitting woolen prosthetics for women who have survived breast cancer or making jumpers for penguins, your hands can hustle with a crochet hook or a pair of knitting needles to help those in need.

Upcycle your upcycling

Take donating your old or unwanted items to the next level by volunteering for an upcycling or used clothing charity. You can pack clothes at a warehouse, lend a hand at a clothing hub, or help run kids’ workshops to educate the future generation on the importance of reusing and recycling.

Community gardens

One way to help reduce food waste and connect with your neighbourhood is through a community garden. A communal green space not only allows people to come together to grow food, it also fosters good health, encourages vibrant communities and helps to increase green spaces within urban environments.

Be an activist
Passionate about the environment? Female empowerment? Indigenous rights? All of the above? Whatever the cause you are passionate about – use your hands to make signs, raise up placards and posters, write emails to those in charge and sign petitions for change. Every little bit helps!

This year, The Body Shop has also introduced three new additions to its iconic hemp range – Hemp Hard-Working Hand Scrub, Hemp Overnight Nourishing Rescue Mask and Hemp Hydrating and Protecting Shower Oil, which all provide the perfect way to deliver heavy-duty hydration to dry skin.
