The ultimate guide to healthy, hydrated skin

Most people know that skin hydration is key to a glowing complexion, but choosing the right product isn't always easy.

Below, we have rounded up some of our top picks, so that you can achieve happy, healthy and hydrated skin in no time.

EDITOR'S PICK: Original & Mineral Seven Day Miracle Moisture Masque - Aja
What it is: A hair mask that helps nourish dry and damaged hair by excessive heat or colouring.
My experience: Hair has never been my thing – I'm not naturally gifted in styling and sometimes (always) neglect treating my locks. However, the Seven Day Miracle from Original & Mineral is just that – a miracle. It has repaired my strains and given them the TLC they deserve. The secret is all in O&M's signature oil blend - it contains coconut, macadamia and sweet almond oils, as well as quandong, desert lime and shea butter. The result is a frizz-free, glossy, hydrated mane – your hair can thank me later.

Carmex® Moisture Plus Hydrating Lip Tint - Tiarne
What it is: A smoothing and plumping lip tint that hydrates lips, while adding a subtle tint.
My experience: This product landed on my desk at just the right time as I recently finished my last Carmex lip balm and was feeling very sorry for my poor, dry lips (as well as for myself). Carmex is one of my all-time favourite lip care brands as I feel like they really absorb into the lips, rather than just sit on top of them like a lot of other balms I’ve tried. And the Hydrating Lip Tint is no different – it delivers hours of nourishment and hydration, as well as a nice tint that is available in varying shades with a subtle gloss look. I was also impressed with its natural ingredients, as I try to be extra careful about what I apply to the delicate skin on my lips. The balm comes in a slim tube with a handy slanted applicator that makes applying the product all that much easier. Will definitely be purchasing once this runs out!

L’OCCITANE Dry Skin Hand Cream - Issy
What it is: A rich and creamy hand cream made with 20% shea butter.
My experience: This came at the right time when my hands were still dry and cracked from the winter months. I love this rich and creamy formula, which once absorbed in, leaves my hands feeling nourished and hydrated with no oily residue. Formulated with 20% shea butter, the cream concentrates on softening dry skin. Shea butter is a natural beauty balm, therefore it’s no surprise how conditioning this hand cream has proven to be. I enjoyed the scent of the cream with subtle hints of honey, almond and coconut oil.

TEOXANE Advanced Filler Dry Skin - Eleni
What it is: A derma-restructuring anti-wrinkle cream that has been specifically tailored for dry skin.
My experience: This TEOXANE Advanced filler for dry skin is a perfectly lightweight and beatifully smelling cream. The smoothing cream is housed in a great white plastic bottle with silver accents. The pump mechanism is great in that just one pump dispenses the perfect amount of product for your face and neck. It is recommended for dry skin and worked well to help me provide extra moisture and nourishment to my skin through the seasonal changes. It is a little fragrant, but in saying that I loved the smell and found it the perfect pick me up in the morning. I looked forward to doing my skincare regime (both morning and night) as I looked forward to incorporating this product after my serums. I find that a lot of moisturisers can break me out or cause me to sweat and not really absorb into my skin that effectively, making them a bit of a waste. This product was great at providing the moisture I needed daily and throughout the night and absorbed well into the skin so I could apply makeup after if needed. After continual use, I did notice my skin to be more radiant, smooth and youthful. This product was the first time I had used any of the TEOXANE products, and I am now keen to find out and try more in the range from this brand!

Sukin Naturals Hydrating Body Lotion - Tamara
What it is: A Body Lotion that helps to nourish and protect the skin.
My experience: The Sukin Naturals Hydrating Body Lotion did a great job of easing my winter skin. It comes in a 500mL pump bottle which makes it easy to use and less messy. The lotion is enriched with sesame, rosehip, jojoba, avocado and wheat germ oils and smells refreshing and relaxing like a day spa. The lotion absorbed into the skin really well and didn’t leave a residue and after only a few days use I noticed a huge difference in the hydration of my skin. Best of all this Body Lotion is natural, not tested on animals, vegan and is made in Australia.

Glow Lab Hydrating Shampoo - Alicia
What it is: A naturally nourishing shampoo with shea butter boosted with the super-quenching power of betaine.
My experience: The Glow Lab Hydrating shampoo has so many beautiful ingredients that really leaves your hair smelling amazing but also completely nourished. The shea butter blend helped with hydrating the ends of my hair that were looking a little dry and I found after using this with the conditioner I did not have as much breakage. The jojoba oil also helped to leave my hair looking shiny and smooth and I found that I had less frizz than what I did have previously when using a different shampoo and conditioner combination.

Hask Argan Oil 5 in 1 Leave-In-Spray - Rhianna
What it is: A leave-in-spray that conditions and detangles hair, while adding shine and repairing and controlling frizz.
My experience: The HASK Argan Oil 5-In-1 Hair Spray has quickly become a hair care favourite of mine! This product conditions and detangles, adds shine, repairs and controls frizz, provides thermal protection and moisturises the hair to avoid breakage – who wouldn’t want all of that?!  I have very long, thick hair, and I often  find myself desperately trying to detangle my long locks post hair wash. I now spritz my damp hair with this HASK Argan Oil Hair spray and it immediately becomes so much easier to comb and detangle my hair. Not only does this product effectively detangle my hair, but also leaves my hair feeling more moisturised and leaves a subtle shine to it. If I am having a frizzy moment in the mornings, I also add a little spray of this product to my dry hair to control the fly aways and to give my hair a shiny, smooth finish. I also love that the product leaves my hair smelling fresh too!

Natio Rosewater Hydration Moisture Recharge Night Cream-Gel - Caitlin
What it is: A moisturiser that deeply hydrates and replenishes the skin.
My experience: Having been a fan of Natio I was quite excited to try this new night cream-gel. In beautiful pink packaging it has a pump to dispense the product which I love as I can control the amount to come out and it also feels more hygenic. When I apply the cream I can instantly smell the stunning rose scent and with the cream-gel texture it easily glides and absorbs into the skin. The formula is infused with rosewater, sesame, vitamin E and hyaluronate which helps treat and hydrate my skin so I wake up with a dewy look.

Ulta3 Base Boost Hydrating Drops - Sam
What it is: A skin-boosting serum infused with hyaluronate acid and witch hazel extract to brighten and rejuvenate the skin complexion.
My experience: If 2020 has been good for one thing it has been the chance to reset my makeup and skincare routine. After years of caking on multiple layers of makeup and ignoring my skin's cries for an adequate skincare routine, 2020 has been the game changer. The Ulta3 Base Boost Hydrating Drops combine the key ingredients my skin needs to stay bright and hydrated but can be mixed into my tinted moisturiser or foundation for a light coverage, dewy finished look. I love how easy this product was to incorporate into my new routine and that the product leaves my complexion glowing.

Ultraceuticals Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum - Deborah
What it is: A moisture-enhancing oil-free serum.
My experience: This is an oil-free serum that provides hydration with provitamin B5 and Hyaluronic Acid and is suitable for all skin types. I have combination skin, and I used this serum in the evening after cleansing, exfoliating and toning. The product is glassy clear with a watery gel-like texture, and it absorbed well into my skin as soon as I applied it. I felt the hydrating effects of this serum instantly and it gave my skin an overall dewy glow without any sticky residue, leaving my skin perfectly smooth for layering my usual face oil on top afterwards.
