CJ Group considering The Body Shop buyout from L'Oréal

It has been reported that South Korea’s CJ Group is looking at bidding for The Body Shop.

The conglomerate, that also has holdings in food, media, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, has declared to South Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service that they’re examining a potential purchase of the company.

Anita Roddick and her husband Gordon founded The Body Shop in 1976 in order to champion a holistic approach to beauty. The brand has remained at the forefront of the naturals movement, and was offering products based on everyday exotic and fair trade ingredients well before it was considered fashionable.

Currently The Body Shop is owned by L’Oréal, who bought them in 2006 for 652 million pounds; however, the company was put up for sale in February.
