NYX founder returns to beauty with new project

NYX Cosmetics was founded in 1999 by Toni Ko who, 15 years later, sold her business to L'Oréal in what was one of the largest beauty acquisitions in history.

But rather than take an early retirement with her earnings, Ko has announced her return to the industry with the launch of a new company: Bespoke Beauty Brands LLC.

Described as "a new age beauty incubator" in a recent press release, Bespoke Beauty Brands LLC will partner with influencers on beauty businesses and manage the launch process from initial concept to distribution. Its first partnership will see Ko team up with Kim Chi, an American drag queen, TV personality performer and Instagram sensation with 1.8 million followers, best known for being a finalist on Season 8 of RuPaul's Drag Race.

The collection, KimChi_Chic Beauty, will feature a limited edition eyeshadow palette, glitter eyeshadows and high shine liquid lip glosses with product packaging featuring designs by artist Ketnipz.

"Bringing @KimChi_Chic and Ketnipz together was a natural fit," said Ko in a statement. "They both embody creativity, inclusiveness, positivity and self-acceptance. I wanted this collection to represent the same ideals."

KimChi_Chic Beauty will launch online this coming October 16.
