This beauty brand founder just became a billionaire

It's one of the most exclusive clubs in the world – reaching billionaire status is something few can say they have achieved. And this year, we have ourselves a beauty founder (and no, it's not Kylie Jenner, again).

Rihanna is now officially a billionaire and "the richest female musician on the planet", according to Forbes. Although it's the latter that we first fell in love with, it's the beauty industry that has skyrocketed her to the fortune.

Forbes estimates Rihanna's net worth at $1.7 billion, with a whopping $1.4 billion of which comes from owning 50 per cent of Fenty Beauty (the other half shared with French luxury goods conglomerate, LVMH).

Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017 with the goal of inclusivity, and changed the shade-range game forever. Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation first hit shelves with 40 shades, and then 50, creating the so-called 'Fenty Effect' in the industry.

But it's not just her beauty venture that helped her reach the billionaire status – Forbes said her Savage x Fenty line of lingerie tosses a couple hundred million dollars her way.

And remember her music? It's been a while between releases (five years in fact), which doesn't make it a surprise to know it's not the most profitable aspect of her career, but it's arguably the reason she was able to so successfully launch such a fruitful beauty brand.

The news also makes Rhianna the world's second richest female entertainer, with Oprah Winfrey the first, of course.
