Actress’s new makeup line causes controversy

Actress Bella Thorne is under fire today after launching an eyeshadow palette that looks remarkably similar to a smaller makeup brand’s.

Thorne’s $US50 and $US60 palettes have garnered serious social media backlash after Instagram and Twitter users noted the similarities between the former Disney star’s “Ocean Drive” palette and indie brand Juvia’s Place “The Masquerade” palette.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, a representative from Juvia’s Place said: "We have no connection with [Thorne's brand Filthy Fangs]. We are not affiliated with them. Yes we are aware of the painful and awkward similarities.

It’s obvious they have done little to no research or they have bluntly stolen our concept which is unacceptable. We believe in originality and the brand you have mentioned lacks that. We have chosen to be light hearted about the situation, after all makeup is supposed to be fun!"

Thorne herself hasn’t spoken to any media outlets directly about the controversy, but instead addressed the accusations on social media:

“Shout out to anyone dumb enough to say that every makeup palette looks the same, bro, because guess what, every makeup palette look the same,” Thorne said in a video posted to her Instagram Stories. “Except for mine, it don’t look the same as anyone’s. And if you think it does, you can go suck a f—king d—k. HA.”

Yikes.
