Nicole Richie launches first fragrance

We first heard she would be doing a scent last October, and now Nicole Richie is finally launching her new fragrance, Nicole, on to the market.

Hitting up Macy’s late last week to reveal her first foray into the fragrance market, the feminine eau de parfum features notes of blackberry, cashmere, sandalwood and golden amber.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do because my mother would combine different oils and lotions and the blend of scents became very special to me,” says Richie.

Having already designed a jewellery and clothing line, it’s no surprise that the style of the bottle was a high priority for the star. Richie created the art deco-inspired bottle with designer Dale Brandon Kan.

It's very much a reflection of my individual style - a spiritual balance of femininity and bohemian. It's the notion that fashion can be easy, comfortable and offer juxtaposition between casual and luxury.”

The scent is set to be sold in around 2000 department and specialty stores in the US as well as in Australia and the UK. In Australia, it is being distributed by Cosmax Prestige Brands and will be available at Myer, David Jones and selected independent stores from October 14. It will retail for $59 for 50mL and $79 for 100mL.

Richie has also revealed plans to launch two fragrances in 2013.
