BD asks influencers: Will you use IGTV?

Instagram’s introduction of IGTV has brought with it a lot of questions – with the biggest being whether influencers will be adapting the new video-sharing platform.

While IGTV is still in its early stages, BD reached out to some well known Aussie YouTubers to see what their thoughts are on the Instagram video service, and find out if they have plans to upload content:

FlexMami:

“IGTV is the beginning of what could be a behemoth. The concerns I have with it are similar to the concerns I had with every other social platform, which resulted in me not utilising them and consequently not being able to reap the benefits now.

“While there is no clear incentive for consumers or creators (that aren’t already being fed by platforms we currently use) I can definitely see the benefit in being an early adopter and growing with the platform.

“I foresee it being longform version of IG stories where creators can upload candid, less curated, entertaining and educational videos.”

Domenica Calarco:

“I’m definitely planning on using IGTV more, I'm going to use it to post quick GRWM's [Get Ready With Me], hair tutorials, etc.

“I think its smart to be involved in all of Instagram's features, you never know whats going to make the algorithm tick; and I'm willing to try anything.

Cass Sersemis:

“I honestly haven’t looked too much into yet as I have been super busy however I do plan on using it especially while I am away in Europe to showcase more than a 15 second Instagram story!”

Nikkia Joy:

"[I'm] Not really sure about the whole IGTV thing yet! To me it seems to be longer form IG stories but I'm unable to tag any brands or anything in them so not really sure what the point is for us creators – there's not real benefit for us. I would never post any of my YouTube content on there as my followers go to my channel for this specifically and that won't be changing. Most of the other influencers I know won't be using it and we all seem to think its just a waste of time really!"

AJ Clementine

"Yes, of course! I've posted a video on my IGTV as an introduction to the content I create, I'm still understanding how I'll approach it to create more content as I put lots of time towards creating my content on YouTube. Honestly, I just prefer the simplicity of IG stories and documenting my daily life through those features.

My response is very much undecided at the moment, but who knows, I like to follow my creative juices and if that leads me to IGTV, then that's where I'll decide to create."
