The first eyeshadow with SPF launches

Earlier this week, American sun care brand, Supergoop, took Instagram by storm when it announced it will be breaking into the colour-cosmetics industry in a highly disruptive way.

The popular brand, which sells 23 SPF products, launched the world’s first SPF eyeshadows.

The eyeshadow range, called Shimmershade, includes three neutral cream eye shadows that offer broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection and can be effortlessly applied with your finger.

“People purposefully avoid SPF around their eyes,” Supergoop founder Holly Thaggard told Fortune. “It’s one of the first places that shows signs of aging and one of the first places that dermatologists find skin cancer.”

Thaggard’s own experience with the disease was the catalyst for launching the brand after a close friend was diagnosed with skin cancer at the young age of 29. She launched Supergoop in 2007 and has been vigilantly advocating for safe sun protection ever since.

In addition to these ground-breaking shadows, the brand is also launching a hair powder, called Poof Part Powder, which offers SPF 45 to protect your part and scalp from the sun.

With suncare growing faster than skincare, Thaggard told Fashionista that this extension of the brand is the next step in giving consumers head-to-toe protection. “For me, it’s really all about, how do I get SPF onto everyone’s skin every single day and make it into a beautiful, luxurious experience?”
