bdBLOG: Beauty sceptics

Wise or just plain negative? I would never have picked us Aussies as a sceptical bunch, but it seems we’re a pack of non-believers when it comes to our beauty products.

A recent survey of more than 7,000 women aged 18 and over discovered that 48 per cent of us rarely or never believe the claims made about skincare products.

The survey, conducted by Olay, also found only 15 per cent of women believe that anti-ageing products do the job they are supposed to do.

What’s more, 60 per cent of participants revealed that skincare brands only occasionally live up to the claims and 20 per cent have never noticed the results that a skincare brand says they can expect.

Maybe I’m naïve, but I’m still a massive believer when it comes to skincare claims. I leave nearly every launch thinking I’m holding the latest skin-changing product in my hot little goodie bag.

While I don’t know whether my fine lines have diminished by 30 per cent” or my skin tone has increased in brightness by 15 times it’s normal luminosity”, I believe that the products I use are definitely helping in the fight to keep looking youthful.

Are you a believer when it comes to beauty claims? Is there one that has exceeded your expectations?
