VOYA partners with Plastic Bank

VOYA Organic Beauty, leading global luxury and sustainable lifestyle brand is pleased to announce the new partnership with Plastic Bank, launching January 2023.

VOYA offers a revolutionary range of results-driven seaweed-based facial and body products, using extracts from seaweed that VOYA sustainably hand-harvest on the west coast of Ireland. With a rich heritage in seaweed bathing, a tradition that is over 300 years old, VOYA creates a range of organic skincare products and spa treatments that are sustainable yet effective.

Since the brand’s inception in 2006, founders Mark and Kira Walton have fostered the belief that “There Must Be A Better Way”, a mission that runs through VOYA’s employees, products, business operations and partnerships, as VOYA continuously seek to improve their eco-efforts and sustainability.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Plastic Bank. They are globally recognised as leaders and innovators in plastic recycling, and we hope to make a measurable environmental and social difference through our partnership with them," said VOYA M.D Mark Walton. "VOYA’s commitment to sustainability is born from our heritage and our love and respect for the ocean. As plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental threats to our waters, threatening ecosystems and harming biodiversity, VOYA are committed to finding a better way surrounding plastic use, including supporting enterprises like Plastic Bank.

VOYA’s latest partnership with Plastic Bank is a great addition to their environmentally friendly practices and partnerships; from sustainable seaweed harvesting and packaging, to existing partnerships with the Soil Association, World Land Trust and Seal Rescue Ireland.

This January VOYA will partner with Plastic Bank, supporting their mission to stop plastic before it enters the ocean. The equivalent of one garbage truck full of plastic enters the ocean every minute, and by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish.

About Plastic Bank

Plastic Bank is a social enterprise working to stop plastic from entering the ocean. Plastic Bank has ethical plastic collection branches within 50 kilometres of coastlines and waterways. The collection community members gather plastic waste directly from local beaches, riverbanks, neighbourhoods, and even households.

Plastic Bank currently operates in Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, and the Philippines, working towards franchise-based expansion in Cameroon and Thailand. VOYA’s story is one of Innovation, Integrity, and Respect for the Sea. For over 10 years, VOYA has led the way for results-driven, certified organic skincare worldwide.

Created on the West Coast of Ireland by the Walton family, the skincare and body care line evolved from the widely acclaimed family-run seaweed baths in Strandhill, Co. Sligo which first opened in 1912. As the reputation of the baths spread, the idea was born to help visitors to create a similar experience at home.

The family combined their knowledge of the therapeutic properties of their hand-picked, wild seaweed with the expertise of highly skilled natural cosmetic scientists, marine biologists and dermatologists from around the world to create VOYA.

Harnessing the unique restorative, healing and anti-ageing properties of seaweed, blended with the purest active organic ingredients and essential oils into exceptional skincare and body care products rich in antioxidants, the Walton Family have launched VOYA in 46 countries into some of the world’s leading Spas.

“VOYA is a like-minded partner that shares our enthusiasm for saving the ocean, commitment to sustainability, and passion for wellness. By partnering with companies who authentically share our purpose, we empower people with products that are making a positive impact in the world," said Plastic Bank.

As well as environmental impact, Plastic Bank supports social change by empowering communities in vulnerable coastal areas with high rates of plastic pollution and poverty. Members of collection communities exchange plastic waste at local collection branches for secure income and life-improving benefits that include access to health, work and life insurance, social assistance, digital connectivity, and fintech services.

Members are registered through the PlasticBank® app powered by Alchemy™, a blockchain-secured platform that records every transaction, enables traceable collection, secures income, and verifies reporting. Collected plastic is reprocessed through partner processors and is reborn as Social Plastic® feedstock, which is used in the manufacturing of products and packaging, helping to give new life old plastic.

VOYA are proud to have made several commitments as of part their Ocean Steward partnership with Plastic Bank. Over the next two years, VOYA pledges to stop the equivalent of over 2 million single-use plastic bottles from entering the ocean in collaboration with Plastic Bank. This is equivalent to over 45,000 kg of plastic and means for every VOYA product sold, VOYA will help to prevent 3 plastic bottles from entering the ocean.

Bioderma launches new cleansing oil

Building on the success of the world’s first-ever Micellar Water, Sensibio H2O, Laboratoire BIODERMA is innovating once again and has created a cleansing oil enriched with the brand’s iconic micellar technology.

Inspired by the skin, Sensibio Micellar Cleansing Oil is a fragrance-free, frictionless makeup remover formulated with sensitive skin at its forefront. The unique formula gently and effectively cleanses the skin, dissolving makeup whilst removing impurities and pollution without leaving a greasy film on the skin.

Key ingredients:

• Grapeseed Oil: Rich in omegas 3 and 6 naturally found in the skin barrier, it works to dissolve makeup while replenishing lost lipids.

• Biomimetic amino acid: Released by the micelles to boost skin nutrition and replenish lost lipids in the barrier function providing comfort to sensitive skin

• Double-action micellar technology: Gentle surfactant creates inverted micelles which break apart to capture makeup, sunscreen, pollution and impurities.

When the product is emulsified, the micelles reform into a classic micelle formation with all the makeup and impurities trapped inside before rinsing. Immediately after use, 98% of women said that the oil effective removes stubborn eye and lip makeup, including waterproof mascara and sunscreen.

“It’s well-recognised how important it is to use cleansers to remove make-up, sunscreen, pollution and other debris from the day to prevent our pore blockage and the potential for ‘inflammaging’” said expert Dr Katherine Armour, Dermatologist. “However, it is also really important to use gentle, nourishing cleansers to achieve this. Using harsh or excessively foaming cleansers may remove debris from the skin, but it also damages the skin barrier, leading to irritation and sensitivity, as well as triggering inflammation which can promote skin aging.”

After landing in-store nationwide at Chemist Warehouse in May, Sensibio Micellar Cleansing Oil has already sold over 700 units within the first couple of weeks with brand fans rushing to try the new product launch for themselves.

Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Cleansing Oil is available now at Chemist Warehouse, RRP $33.99

Goldwell partners with Bianca Spender for Fashion Week

Goldwell is the official hair partner for Bianca Spender’s Summer ‘23 Collection and 15-year milestone show at Fashion Week. Celebrating its 75th year, Goldwell is proud to partner for the fourth runway show with Bianca Spender with Hair Director Jason Fassbender of Willomina Woollahra.

Motivated by the concept of ‘softness’ the collection conveys a deep sense of relaxed comfort. Experimenting with shapes, Spender explores the contrast between traditional tailoring and organic forms. The polarity of redefined dress codes is confronted, blurring the line between function and fluidity.

“Designing clothes has long been a type of cathartic therapy for me as I find my own voice within the industry. Of late I am more experimental and optimistic than ever. Confident that my clothes make people feel inspired, courageous and happy. Kinetic Energy is essential to my vision. Clothes in motion. Enhancing the movement and form of the wearer. This constant energetic exchange helps fuel my imagination,” said Bianca Spender, Founder and Creative Director, Bianca Spender.

"Goldwell has been a proud partner of Bianca Spender at four runway shows in a collaboration that spans over five years. We admire her creativity and use of color and texture in producing fashion collections that are both beautiful and functional. Celebrating 75 years of Goldwell innovation this year, we are thrilled to support Bianca as she celebrates 15 years of her label,” said Rita Marcon, General Manager Kao Salon Division.

ANZ Hair Director Jason Fassbender created two hair looks, a Dropped Ponytail and Faux Fringe. “We wanted to create hair with an edge, almost a little rock and roll nothing too pretty or perfect. Inspired by the 90s cool girl vibe. The faux fringe is a lot of fun, juxtaposing the softness of the collection while looking polished from the back. Bianca loves hair with texture and Goldwell’s Style Sign Creative Texture range has something for all hair types. My go-to is StyleSign Creative Texture Dry Boost as hair remains soft and workable, natural texture is amplified," said Jason Fassbender, Goldwell Hair Director.

Look 1 Dropped Ponytail

Step 1 On dry hair apply Goldwell StyleSign Ultra Volume Naturally Full section by section through roots to ends and blow dry roughly through hair. Use a round brush to directionally blow dry away from the face. The finish is to be natural rather than perfect.

Step 2 Wide tooth comb through hair to smooth. Flat iron ends of hair with slight bend under (very lightly to smooth ends in one section). Section just below the crown from ear to ear, pulling the lower half of hair into smooth ponytail at base of head.

Step 3 Backcomb the top section and apply a light mist of Goldwell StyleSign Creative Texture Dry Boost and comb through. Rake hair back straight with slight texture and height on top and join to ponytail. Put hair in a loose pony with three loops. Pull tails of elastic as though you are taking pony out in a downward motion to create the snake effect.

Step 4 Light mist of Goldwell StyleSign Just Smooth Diamond Gloss all over to add shine and finish.

Look 2 Faux Fringe

Step 1 Prep as per look 1. Apply Goldwell StyleSign Creative Texture Unlimitor on sides only and brush back into mid to low tight ponytail leaving enough length to create faux fringe. This should be a tight, neat ponytail.

Step 2 Twist ponytail up and pin up to the crown. Fan ends across the face as a faux fringe.

Step 3 If needed add texture to mid-lengths and ends of fringe with a flat iron and lightly spray Goldwell StyleSign Creative Texture Texturizer, scrunch through fringe ends for an undone finish.

Step 4 Light spray of Goldwell StyleSign Ultra Volume Magic Finish all over hair. The final look should be textured and slightly imperfect

PRO TIP: The Faux Fringe works beautifully with a headscarf or headband to hold it in place.
