How Aussies will be shopping during Black Friday

It’s arguably the biggest sale day of the year over in the US, but get your credit card ready, as us Aussies are more keen for Black Friday than ever.

This year, the event falls on November 23, and according to new research from Picodi, 57 per cent of Australians will be participating in Black Friday 2018. That’s an increase from last year, where 50 per cent of Australians participated. Finder Australia have also seen a whopping 140 per cent increase in public interest on their Black Friday deals page, compared to 2017.

The research shows that Aussies won't be shy when it comes to spending either. On average, Australians are willing to spend $263 during the Black Friday shopping period. On the other hand, it's predicted that these shopper will score an average saving of $297.

So what is on the top of our shopping lists? Clothes, electronics, shoes, cosmetics and perfume and home appliances round out the top five most popular categories, according to Black Friday Global

Lucky for us, sales aren’t necessarily confined to the the 24-hour period on Black Friday, like a lot of stores in the US. Many retailers will choose their own sale time frame, like THE ICONIC, which has already started its sale. 

And though brick and mortar stores may have good deals on offer as well, it’s no surprise Aussie love to shop online. Just six per cent of Australians said they'll only shop in-store, whereas 37 per cent said they'll be finding their bargains online.  

So get your wallets and shopping lists ready, and start refreshing those web browsers.
