Tried & tested: Healthy hands and nails

You don’t neglect to look after your hair or your face – but what about your hands? In a bid to improve overall hand and nail health, the BD team tried and tested some healthy hand heroes. Read on for our thoughts.

LUSH Helping Hands - Tiarne
What it is: a hand cream that was originally created with nurses in mind as well as all those with cracked and sore hands.
My experience: I am very impressed with this hand cream! My hands get super dry throughout winter, so I’ve been looking for something to help smooth them out long-term, rather than just temporarily. Since using the cream, my hands feel smoother, softer and less sore. It even helped reduce redness from a rash (and got rid of the rash!) that appeared on my hands from a different product. Amazing! So far, no other hand cream has compared. Would definitely recommend.

Swisse Ultiboost Hair Skin Nails+ - Zoe
What it is: a premium quality formula that supports collagen production and helps to maintain healthy skin, hair and nails.
My experience: No gimmicks here! This product does exactly what it’s supposed to do. After four weeks of trying Swisse Ultiboost Hair Skin Nails+ my hair is growing (thanks to a recent blonde transformation my hair growth has been easier to track than usual), my nails are much stronger and the quality of my skin has improved tenfold. I can’t wait to continue to take these and see my flyaways (hopefully) grow out.

Mavala Scientifique K+ – Steph
What it is: a nail hardener that hardens soft nails, and avoids them breaking or splitting.
My experience: There’s an abundance of things that can cause your nails to split and break, and my former acrylic nail habit has definitely not helped. In a bid to regrow strong, healthy nails I was excited to try Mavala Scientifique K+ – a polish that promises to improve nail quality. After recent testing you can’t deny this product works; and I largely credit that to the formaldehyde-free formula containing crystal resin tears that support the natural keratinization process of nails, reinforcing them.

OPI Nail Envy Original - Rachel
What it is: A nail strengthening treatment
My experience: This is one of those things you don’t know you need until you start using it. I have tried other nail strengtheners in the past that tend to just peel off after a couple of days, however I am over a week in using the OPI Nail Envy Original and am so impressed with the results! The maximum strength formula with wheat protein and calcium has really helped my nails grow faster and stronger - yay to no more chipped nails! - and I’ve been happy wearing it alone (starting with two coats then topping off with one coat every other day) as it lends a subtle sheen. Safe to say my nails will not be going a day without this now!

JERGENS Hand & Nail Cream– Tash
What it is: Hand & Nail Cream moisturiser enriched with an illuminating HydraLucence blend as well as Vitamins C, E and B5 to repair extra dry skin.
My experience: This landed on my desk at the perfect time when my hands were extremely dry and cracked. The Winter wind along with constant washing of my hands to ward off the flu, left them distressed and sore. This hand & nail cream instantly absorbs and is non-greasy for silky soft repaired hands and healthy cuticles. I will not leave the office or house without it!
