Tried & tested: Hydrating skincare

This week the BD team tried and tested the some ultimate skin hydrators this week. Read our thoughts below:

philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Refreshing & Refining Moisturizer – Georgie
What it is: This antioxidant-packed moisturiser helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, skin discolouration, rough texture and dehydration. It dramatically improves skin radiance and gently exfoliates, revealing smoother, healthier looking skin and texture.
My experience: I’ve actually been a long-time fan of philosophy’s renewed hope in a jar series but this is the first time I’ve used the version specifically for dry skin. As I suffer combination skin and get a bit oily during the day, I was initially quite nervous that it would give me extra shine. Thankfully, the opposite happened and I felt as if my skin were producing less oil – such a good result! The cream is a beautiful texture and absorbs very quickly making it perfect to wear under makeup. It’s a joy to use and philosophy’s renewed hope in a jar series will remain a firm favourite of mine.

endota spa Organics - Hydrate Me Mist – Zoe
What it is: on-the-go face mist that calms and moisturises dry and sensitive skin.
My experience: Coming into winter it was essential I had a product that could quickly rehydrate my skin as I moved between freezing outdoor temperatures and my artificially heated office. This product does just that, and doesn’t move my makeup. The formula contains rosehip oil, aloe vera and rose maroc absolute (which means it smells amazing), and I’ve found that my dry skin is less irritated and red following a quick mist.

JERGENS Hydrating Coconut Lotion – Rachel
What it is: A hydrating lotion with long-lasting, moisture-rich hydration for visibly softer skin.
My experience: The JERGENS Hydrating Coconut Lotion, with its unique formula containing an illuminating HYDRALUCENCE blend, is exactly what my skin needed. It sinks right into my skin when I apply it and instantly my skin looks and feels softer and hydrated - the difference is noticeable! The dreamy scent from the nourishing Coconut Oil and Coconut Water takes me back to Summer (in Winter!) which I can’t get enough of.

The Body Shop Body Yogurt - British Rose – Tiarne
What it is: A fast-absorbing body yogurt that takes just 15 seconds to absorb into the skin and provides 48 hours of lightweight moisture.
My experience: First off, this smells absolutely amazing. I’m a huge fan of fruity scented moisturisers, so I was very excited to try this Body Yogurt. As someone who gets oily skin from time to time, I was impressed with its lightweight texture. It absorbed into my skin very quickly and easily and my skin felt smooth, soft and supple the entire day. I could also smell the delicious fragrance periodically and received quite a few compliments about how good I smelt. I will continue using this until it runs out, and then I will definitely grab another!

BIODERMA Hydrabio Serum – Laura
What it is: A facial serum for those with dehydrated and sensitive skin.
My experience:  Winter is now upon us and my skin is definitely showing the effects. A few dry patches have begun to crop up so I was excited to try the BIODERMA Hydrabio Serum to nourish and hydrate my skin. It went on smoothly, felt light and gentle and instantly left it feeling refreshed. I’ll be reaching for this product daily to ensure my skin remains soft and supple!

Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Serum – Steph
What it is: An anti-aging moisturiser that works to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
My experience: My major skin concerns used to be hydration and pigmentation but since my last birthday premature aging has gone to the top of the list! This silky moisturiser contains an amino-peptide complex to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also boosting and maintaining moisture levels thanks to the hyaluronic acid. I find it keeps my skin looking smooth, plump and hydrated and it sits perfectly under makeup without taking ages to absorb – a must for those who struggle to stay on time in the mornings like me!

Environ Focus Care Moisture + HA Intensive Hydrating Serum – Tash
What it is: An intensive hydrating serum formulated with hyaluronic acid and special molecules with moisture binding characteristics.
My experience: This was a lovely serum to use, the packaging is simple and travel friendly and the pump delivers just the right amount of product. The serum was absorbed into my skin quickly and I have noticed my skin feels more hydrated and plumper when I wake up and all throughout the day. A serum that delivers on its namesake and will be a staple in my skin care routine for the next few months.

Dermal Therapy™ Very Dry Skin Cream – Emily
What it is: a cream formulated to hydrate dry skin.
My experience: Coming into winter this product has saved me. My elbows and knees tend to get quite dry and the Dermal Therapy Very Dry Skin Cream almost fixed this overnight. It’s clinically proven to increase hydration by 52 per cent in 14 days, and that’s no lie. Plus, the formula is non-greasy and suitable for use on the whole body – I’ve even tried it on my face.
