Glossier product launch inspired by a makeup artist hack

It’s the skincare product that Glossier fans have requested more than any other, and finally the cult beauty brand has answered those prayers. Cue, eye and lip plumping cream, Bubblewrap.

After two years in the making, Glossier announced the newest addition to its lineup yesterday, but of course adding a spin to a classic. Inspired by a makeup artist hack, Bubblewrap is not only formulated to hydrate and protect the delicate eye area, but also helps lips appear plush and full.

“We knew about this industry hack, especially popular with makeup artists, of using eye cream on your lips, so we dug into why that makes sense,” Glossier director of product marketing and development, Melissa Souto, told Harper's BAZAAR.

The water-in-oil emulsion formula, which Glossier claims doesn’t feel sticky or pill under makeup, contains a powerful combination of hyaluronic acid, squalane and avocado oil and super fruit blueberry extract.

It’s already rating highly with clinical trial users, as 94 per cent said their eye area felt more moisturised immediately and 82 per cent said their eye area looked smoother after two hours. Lip wise, 85 per cent said their lips felt smoother immediately and evaluators measured increased lip hydration in 91 per cent of subjects after two hours.

Bubblewrap retails for US$26 for 22mL and is available on www.glossier.com. Currently the site only ships to the US, Canada, UK, the Republic of Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and France.
