Louis Vuitton launches its first beauty line

Louis Vuitton is officially entering the world of beauty with its first makeup collection, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, and it's as beautiful as you can imagine.

The fashion house's long-awaited foray into beauty was first teased back in March, and has been spearheaded by none other than the iconic makeup artist, Pat McGrath.

"Working backstage for over 20 years at Louis Vuitton fashion shows, I am thrilled to now play such a key role in the launch of La Beauté Louis Vuitton, which is the result of extraordinary craftsmanship, creativity and innovation," said McGrath in a statement.

"The beauty universe is about so much more than just product and what we are creating here will unlock a new level in luxury beauty."

The range is set to debut with a collection of 55 lipsticks, 10 lip balms and eight eye palettes, which McGrath has reportedly been involved in developing for the last four years.

The price point has caused some debate online, and is as luxurious as you'd expect – the lipsticks and lip balms will retail for $265 and refills $115, and the eye shadow palettes will be $420.

La Beauté Louis Vuitton will launch exclusively in China on August 20th, and will be available in selected Australian boutiques and online at louisvuitton.com.au from August 29th. Pre-orders open worldwide from August 25th.
