Women have nailed the art of the little white lie - at least when it comes to their beauty routines. It seems ladies will do whatever it takes to maintain a perfectly primped and preened image. A new study released by market research firm One Poll has confirmed the main subjects women lie about - and most of them relate to beauty regimes.
The study, commissioned by haircare brand , asked 2,000 British women what they lied about or hid from their friends or family for a month. Despite the shift to more "natural" beauty looks in recent times, the results reveal women will go to any lengths to promote a level of perfection, even to spouses.
The top five beauty rituals that women hide from their partners are facial hair removal (25 per cent), shaving armpits (20 per cent), cutting toenails (17 per cent), squeezing spots (17 per cent), and removing hard skin from feet (16 per cent).
Continuing the smoke and mirrors trend, one in 15 women admitted to waking up early to apply make-up before seeing their partners, with one in 10 confirming they also regularly Photoshop their selfies. The study also found women would rather reveal their salary to their partner than their greying hair.
