After finishing university in Auckland, Sophie Chung started her career as the assistant to the beauty director at Marie Claire Magazine in Korea. She has since been working for M2 Woman as their digital content manager and knows the brand inside out.
Effective immediately, Chung has begun filing pages for the magazine’s May/June issue: “I’m so excited! The stars have aligned and I’m really happy with how things came into fruition this year. My cousin is a beauty editor and while she was writing for Allure magazine, I’ve been inundated with cosmetics since I was a young teen. This turn in career choice was definitely something unexpected but one that’s not unprecedented,” says Chung.
“I’m currently the digital content manager for M2 Woman, so with another huge role of beauty editor, I’m going to be constantly needing to find the balance between the two. I’ll be testing beauty pieces online to see what our demographic actually wants to read. I really want to pursue doing more videos online and beauty product reviews. As for editorial, print will ALWAYS have its place, but because it's not as fleeting as digital, it will always have more gravitas. It’s really refreshing to have two roles that I can switch to and from - I guess I'll never get sick of doing just one thing!"
