bdBLOG: Ad campaigns we love

Every so often, a good ad campaign can transcend TVs, billboards and magazine pages to become a piece of pop culture. They’re the ads that achieve upwards of a million YouTube hits, or spur a massive spike in sales.

Most recently, Lancôme’s Love Your Lips!” film, created for the launch of the brand’s Rouge in Love lipstick range, set the Internet abuzz, clocking up more than 3 million views already. The music to the film was created by French duo Brigitte, who specially re-wrote the lyrics to their song Oh La La” to fit with the commercial.

Building on the ad’s success, Lancôme has now made the song available to download for free from the brand’s sites, either in a short phone ringtone version or in the full 60-second version for a digital MP3 player.

As far as the humble print campaign goes, we’ve spent the last week lusting over the Estée Lauder Mad Men collection. The images, which star French model Constance Jablonski, evoke old-Hollywood glamour. While there’s no plan for the range to come to Australia, we feel we’re still allowed to perve on Jablonski’s unbelievably flawless skin and richly coloured lips.

The images got chins wagging about our favourite beauty advertisements gone by. Yelena is a sucker for a beautiful fragrance ad, citing Marc Jacobs’ Daisy campaigns and the recent imagery for Jo Malone’s Wild Bluebell collection. Liz chose the recent advertisements for Burberry Beauty, starring a smouldering Rosie Huntington-Whitely and Lily Donaldson. Meanwhile, I personally am a sucker for Natalie Portman’s Miss Dior Cherie ads…

What are your favourite beauty campaigns? Are you as in-love with the latest ads from Lancôme and Estée Lauder as we are?
