Pro surfers to launch personal care line

2019 has bought more celebrity beauty ranges than you can shake a stick at. And just when you thought there were no more seats left on this crowded bandwagon, a new breed of personal care entrepreneurs is emerging...fresh from the ocean.

Kelsen, a line of clean, unisex, personal-care products comes courtesy of a team of unlikely founders: pro skaters Sean Malto and Curren Caples, and pro surfers Jack Freestone and Mikey February. The range will be available to buy in October.

Comprising of a pomade; a hair conditioner and a two-in-one shampoo and body wash, Kelsen puts sustainable endeavours at the forefront (unsurprising given the vocation of its founders). The brand will work with 1% for the Planet, an organisation that pledges to contribute at least 1 percent of its annual sales to environmental causes.

“This is a space new to a lot of us, but it all seemed right,” California-based Curren told WWD. “…The way that we got Jack and Mikey, we were trying to figure out who would fit the mold of the brand and play a role, not just as a co-owner but actually take interest in it. Jack is an amazing surfer and stylish dude. Mikey is an amazing surfer and has a super rad vibe all around. When we approached them, they were super psyched to be part of it…it all came together in the last six months.”
