Google is making some major changes

Google will be changing its famous, albeit basic, homepage for the first time since its inception in 1996.

The plain white background and colourful, changing, Google logo with a search box will be gone. In its place, a news-based feed – similar to how Facebook is set out – will be the new home screen.

Google vice president of engineering, Shashi Thakur, said in a statement: “You’ll see cards with things like sports highlights, top news, engaging videos, new music, stories to read and more. And now, your feed will not only be based on your interactions with Google, but also factor in what’s trending in your area and around the world.”

The changes have already been rolled out to US users, and will hit Aussie shores within the next few weeks.
