Google rolls out e-commerce features

E-commerce is here, there and everywhere these days and only continuing to grow in popularity as a way to make purchases. It’s a notion that Google understands, with the digital giant rolling out a handful of new features to make online shopping even easier. The new developments aim to offer brands greater control over their products on various Google platforms, increasing the existing connection between consumer and offering.

Key new features include:

Companion banner
YouTube viewers will now be able to easily access the products they witness in videos. It is an enhancement of the TrueView shopping feature Google introduced last year. The banner allows shoppers to scroll through a list of the exact products they are watching on screen.

Currency converter
International shopping will no longer be an issue with this feature that automatically converts currency for those located in Australia, the UK, Canada and Switzerland. For example, Australians will be able to peruse offerings from British retailers in Australian dollars automatically.

TrueView personalised
Brands and advertisers will now be able to prioritise which of their products are featured in TrueView when they are determining shopping campaigns.
