Instagram’s new update means saying goodbye to story regret

Instagram has introduced a new feature that means big things if you’re worried about losing a story.

Starting today, Instagram will begin to add your expired stories to the archive feature, which until now has been used only to house photos and videos you no longer want to display on your public profile. The stories archive, which you will be able to opt out of, is being introduced globally on Android and iOS.

While some may think the archive addition is eerily similar to Snapchat’s ‘memories’ feature, Instagram’s differs in the sense that you’ll be able to add old stories to your profile through ‘Highlights’. Highlights will appear in the feed alongside your carefully curated photos and videos in a move that Instagram hopes will liven people’s feeds.

As The Verge reported, Instagram said a significant (though undisclosed) number of users were downloading their stories daily, and this provides an obvious solution.
