Bauer Media is today set to close the doors of Zoo’s website and online community, with the site's retirement notice directing members to stay in touch via ZOOsingles.com.au.
We’re retiring the website but we’re not getting out of digital," Zoo Weekly associate publisher Ewen Page told Mumbrella.
There will be a landing page which will take you out to the various other things we have. It is different. It’s not a retreat; we don’t see it as that.”
The closure of the website is not likely to affect the print publication. If you combine the audience of Zoo, it’s still a powerful medium for young men. The demographic of young males is not going away - they are still strong consumers of the content Zoo do.”
While Page says the decision to retire the site is not related to circulation figures, the most recent statistics from the Audit Bureau of Circulations saw Zoo Weekly posting a 33.7 per cent decline in circulation for the months April to June 2014.
