The Urban List expands into beauty editorial

City guide The Urban List has a presence in Australia’s three largest cities, with content largely relating to the movements of each urban landscape. Noticing the growing demand for beauty advice and content, the website has lately begun to expand on its beauty offerings online.

Here, BD speaks to content manager Sophia Fukunishi about the site’s plans for the beauty sector.

How long has The Urban List covered beauty?
The Urban List has always covered beauty in some capacity, however, it has recently made beauty content a real focus - and so far, our audience are loving it! We took our time launching in the beauty space because we really wanted to nail it, and we feel the content we’re producing has hit a real sweet spot for our readers.

What kind of content do you cover?
We’re doing lots of fun things at the moment! We’ve just kicked off beauty road-tests, our ‘Beauty Dummy’ series and our ‘2 Minute Face’ content series showcasing a sneak peek into the make-up bags of some of our favourite famous faces. We will also be covering beauty trends and we’re counting down our favourite beauty products in our ‘8 Of The Best’ series. It’s been great to see our audience really responding to the new content too, with much of our beauty content ranking as our most popular content /articles for the week.

Is this a category that you will be expanding?
Definitely! We’ve only just begun to have fun in the beauty space, and the warm reaction we’ve had from our audience has spurred us to do more. The voyeuristic beauty trend is having a moment right now, and we’re keen to dive a bit deeper into this area. We’re also looking to run more hair and fragrance-based editorial.

Are articles area-specific?
The majority of our beauty content lends itself to being shared nationally (with Perth in the mix soon too!), for example beauty trend features, but as we’re champions of local businesses, we include references to local stockists or service providers wherever possible.
