Mary Kay joins Chanel in sustainable packaging initiative

Mary Kay has become the eighteenth member to join L’Oréal’s Sustainable Packaging Initiative for Cosmetics (SPICE), scaling up its commitment to eco-friendly packaging.

The brand joins beauty heavyweights Chanel, Coty and Estée Lauder Companies, and is aiming to drive innovation and adopt sustainable packaging policies within its business.

“Together with SPICE and other industry leaders, Mary Kay is firmly committed to building a future that’s healthier greener and more sustainable for generations to come,” said the company’s VP of procurement and supplier development, Keith Learn.

L’Oréal established the organisation in 2018 with environmental consultant group Quantis, in order to shape the future of sustainable packaging. The forum publishes business-driven methodologies and data to help companies improve the environmental performance of the packaging chain.
