The new diet set to become a fad

Sick of hearing about Dukan, Atkins and Paleo? There’s a new diet book that hit shelves on Tuesday that’s set to join the ranks of fad diet phenomenons.

Her Hungry Girl cookbooks have seen her become a #1 New York Times best-selling author, and now Lisa Lillien is delivering a meal plan based on her famous super-sizing techniques. Titled The Hungry Girl Diet: Big Portions. Big Results. Drop 10 Pounds in 4 Weeks, the book sees Lillien provide a four-week jump-start plan to help people lose weight effortlessly.

With a focus on lean protein, low-fat dairy, fresh fruit and vegetables and gigantic portions, the  three key rules in Lillien’s book are:

1. High protein breakfast - Eat at least 20 grams of protein for breakfast to keep your body full for longer, as proteins have slow digestion.

2. Super-size portions for lunch and dinner - Super-size your meals by loading up on nutrient-rich vegetables, especially leafy greens, as they are naturally filling and low in calories.

3. Indulge in guilt-free snacks - Eat three snacks per day that are high in fibre and protein to help curb your appetite in between meals and speed up your metabolism.

As well as the diet program, The Hungry Girl Diet includes over 50 easy recipes, tips and tricks for avoiding diet derailment, grocery shopping hints, and a list of smart food swaps.

This is my first actual diet book. Over the years, people have said to me, ‘I love your recipes, I love your philosophies and your ideas and your advice, but how do I put them all together into a specific diet plan that can actually help me lose weight?’, and that’s what this book is,” says Lillian.
