Maybelline New York is involved in some of the planet’s most exciting and fashionable events and for the second year running, the renowned brand is the official make-up sponsor of New Zealand’s biggest night in music.
As a bonus, returning to New Zealand’s shores specially for the event is internationally acclaimed Maybelline New York Make-up Director, Nigel Stanislaus. And in 2016, Maybelline is also hosting a special guest – The Bachelor New Zealand winner Matilda Rice and her no-longer bachelor Art Green.
On 17 November at Auckland’s Vector Arena, the awards are a star-studded evening that celebrates some of the country’s biggest and brightest musical talent.
Maybelline New Zealand’s Group Brand Manager Hayley Sigmund is thrilled to be working alongside the VNZMAs.
“This is an exciting partnership for us all which worked very well in 2015,” she says. “It’s a natural fit for the number one Colour Cosmetics brand in the world.
“Maybelline helps to bring energy, edge and style to many events around the world such as New York Fashion Week and we love to share our work at these events with our customers. The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards is a major event here in New Zealand which is just as full of energy, edge and style,” Hayley says. “We’re looking forward to working with finalists and presenters on red-carpet looks for the night and excited to be a part of the prestigious event.”
Special guest makeup director Nigel Stanislaus has a skilful approach to the art of make-up, plus a solid understanding of fashion and graphic design and a passion for creativity that’s perfect for the Maybelline brand.
Responsible for creating the season’s hottest make-up looks, Nigel has represented Maybelline NY at numerous high-profile, international events including New York Fashion Week. Highly respected as an industry expert, he’s also worked on international TV shows including Australia’s Next Top Model, Make Me a Supermodel, Project Runway, Australian Idol and The X-Factor.
With such an illustrious career to date, Nigel says he is beyond thrilled to be bringing his expertise to the VNZMA for a second time and is looking forward to working with some of the country’s brightest talent.
“Three things that inspire me are travel, people and music – this opportunity combines all three and I’m looking forward to visiting New Zealand again and creating looks for some incredibly talented musicians,” says Nigel.
This year Maybelline is also hosting special guest Matilda Rice winner of the first ever season of The Bachelor New Zealand. “I’m so excited to be going along to the awards with Maybelline,” says Matilda. “My hand bag is testament to how much I love Maybelline as I’m never without my favourite beauty products.
“I don’t like to spend hours piling on the make-up and with Maybelline I can easily achieve the natural barely there look or amp it up for the red carpet.”
Make It Happen
Maybelline’s Make It Happen (MIH) finalists are also involved with the event. As part of the MIH campaign, which ran in conjunction with Miss FQ earlier this year, six talented Kiwi women were selected and are being mentored to realise their career dreams.
Auckland make-up artist Krystal Ween (22) is one of the lucky six and will have the unique opportunity to head backstage and showcase her skills.
With the guidance from make-up artist Meagan Rawlings she will assist in creating a bespoke make-up look for Matilda and be on hand on event night.
“As one of Maybelline’s Make It Happen girls it’s incredible to think I’ll be helping to create looks for such notable women. I can’t wait to work with them,” says Krystal.
