I’m not normally a lip gloss fan because of the sticky, sparkly mess it leaves on my lips. But like a moth to a flame I was drawn to the gorgeous hot pink of the Designer Brands Lavish Lip Gloss. When I twist opened the lid, I was delighted to find that the texture of the gloss was quite rich and creamy. When I applied a swatch to my hand, I was even more excited to find that the colour was as advertised. I dabbed a bit of concealer underneath before applying the Lavish Lip Gloss as I was adamant I wanted the colour to be the same, and sure enough, the opaque colour translated well on my lips. And it’s definitely not as gluey and gluggy as some other glosses. So pretty in pink and perfect to sport in the sunshine! - Jocelyn

We are spoilt for choice when it comes to lipsticks these days - you can opt for matte, satin, shiny or gloss and you can choose from a lipgloss-like applicator, the traditional lipstick applicator and, in this instance, a crayon applicator. The Australis Neon Crush Gloss Stick is a chubby crayon stick that has a balmy texture. The balm feels soft and moisturising and can be compared to smoothing oil on the lips, making it super comfortable to wear. Like a lipstick, it delivers a bold pop of colour with a glossy finish that’s not too shiny. It has medium staying power and can be applied as a light application or can be layered for intense colour - Liz

L'Oréal Paris

I’m not going to hold back… I LOVE this colour! The L’Oréal Paris Glam Matte lip gloss is the perfect mix of cherry red and a fantastic fuchsia pink resulting in this gorgeous rich colour. The product is super-pigmented, so I would suggest applying a few light layers to build up to the intensity. It can be worn matte or if you want a glossier look, apply a layer of lip gloss before or after to give some shine. I’m picturing warm summer afternoons, tanned skin, a cute white sun dress and a pop of pink lip colour. - Whitney

There is nothing quite like a pop pink lip to get spring started. With the weather as beautiful as it has been lately, I’m working this bad boy into my weekly routine. The Maybelline Megawatt lipstick shade I tried was ‘Neon Pink’, and it brightened up and finished my spring make-up look. The colour is one thing, yes - but another great thing about this lippy is that it lasts all night. It doesn’t dry my lips out - which is a huge problem I tend to have, and it is one of those lipsticks you can apply once, leave at home, go out on the town, and not once worry about it coming off. I am 100 per cent pocketing this one at Derby Day. - Maddie

I love a lipstick with a high colour pay-off. The more vibrant the pigmentation, the more likely I am to wear it. This Creamy Matte Liquid Lipstick has an intense colour, despite being in a light pink colour. Some pale pink lipsticks can give the appearance that you're not wearing any lipstick at all - but not this one! As well as packing a pink punch, the lipstick also has a long-lasting colour and a matte texture. The perfect addition to the party season. - Yelena
