L'Oreal Australia and New Zealand welcomes new CEO

Rodrigo Pizarro has hung up his boots as CEO of L’Oreal Australia and New Zealand, having passed on the role to Alex Davison.

Over the last nine years, Pizarro has helped L’Oreal ANZ achieve double digit growth and historic market share, making the formidable brand not only the largest beauty company globally, but also locally.

What set Pizarro apart from his competitors was his solid understanding of technology and data and knowing the importance of leveraging those resources in the beauty industry. As a keen futurist, he revolutionised L’Oreal’s analytics capability and focused on AI and data analytics to help the brand become a digital business.

While he has stepped away from his role as CEO, Pizarro will still be an integral part of the business as he moves to a strategic role within L’Oreal Groupe. Davison will take on the role of CEO after managing the L’Oreal Groupe subsidiary in Greece for the last three years. During his tenure, the business saw double digit growth and increased market share.

Davison also contributed to L’Oreal’s achievements in sustainability, diversity and inclusion, which led to recognition in Greece as “Top 20 Company Changing the World for Good”, awarded by Fortune magazine.

Davison began his journey with L’Oreal in 2016 as General Manager of the L’Oreal Dermatological Beauty Division. Prior to joining L’Oreal, he worked for Procter & Gamble for 17 years across a number of roles.

“I’m excited to be joining the team in Australia and New Zealand,” says Davison. “Over the past nine years, Rodrigo has built a strong business that has people at the heart of its success. This aligns with my personal leadership values and I’m looking forward to working with the team as we build brands tailored for Australian and New Zealand consumers, and a business focused on sustainability and diversity”.
