Lush’s Kiss and Tell protest

Never ones to shy away from sticking up for a cause they believe in, is holding a nationwide Kiss and Tell protest this Saturday to help support the marriage of same-sex couples.

Taking place at Lush stores across Australia at 1pm, Lush is partnering up with Australian Marriage Equality (AME) to call on the Australian Federal Government to pass the proposed amendments to the Australian Marriage Act.

The Act changes would allow same-sex couples access to the human rights that come with federal marriage recognition.

For a week starting today, Lush will be turning its shops into campaign centres where people can learn about marriage equality denied to same-sex couples and to sign a petition calling on the government to take action. They have also created a new limited edition Freedom Foamer Bubbler Bar that will see 100 per cent of proceeds going to AME’s campaign to end marriage discrimination.

Across Australia, tens of thousands of loving, committed same-sex couples and their families are excluded from marriage, and all the legal and social benefits that marriage brings, simply because of their sexual orientation,” says Australian Marriage Equality national convener Alex Greenwich. For same-sex couples to fully share in marriage, we must pass an amendment to the Marriage Act which removes discrimination against same-sex couples."

We believe that that everyone should have the right to marry the person they love,” says LUSH campaigns manager Megan Taylor. Many of our staff, customers, friends and family are not given the same rights as everyone else and we felt, for the sake of our friends, we had to challenge this injustice.”
