Lush have released a palm-oil free soap to help save endangered orangutans.
Palm oil plantations continue to wipe out the Sumatran forest in Indonesia, leaving more orangutans in danger and homeless. Currently there are only 14,600 Sumatran orangutans left in the wild.
In response Lush is selling a limited edition soap where every cent (besides GST) will go towards the #SOSsumatra campaign for The Sumatran Orangutan Society to help rebuild the forest.
Last year, enough money was raised through the #SOSsumatra campaign to buy 50 hectares of ex-palm plantation and turn it back into natural forest.
This year proceeds of the Orangutan soap will go to SOS again in order to buy another piece of 50 hectare forest; with help from The Orangutan Information Centre they will rebuild the home humans have taken.
Orangutan Soap has a palm-free soap base of extra virgin coconut oil featuring zingy Brazilian orange oil and earthy patchouli, and is available to download on BD now.
