On trial this week - October 21

Products the bd team tested (and loved) this week.

A change-of-season cold has made itself at home in the bd office. Each girl has, rather unkindly, passed this bug onto the next, resulting in a whole lot of sneezing, coughing and general blah-ness. When I couldn't shake my sinus-y head cold after two weeks, bd staffer Bree told me to try Sterimar after it worked so well on her. I've never used a nasal spray before (mainly because I didn't understand how put anything in your nose can help clear it) but this sorted out my stuffy head more than a cold and flu tablet did. Sterimar is a sterilised salt solution that relieves hayfever and sinusitis as well as blocked noses. The gentle spray gets to work almost immediately and it's so long to the heavy feeling in your head. – Michelle

False Lash Architect 4D Mascara in Black

I’ve never had a mascara that I really, truly love. L’Oréal’s Lash Architect 4D landed on my desk at just the right time – as I came to the end of yet another disappointing mascara. Having been using it for the past three days, I’m quite confident I’ve found a new make-up bag staple. It provides my lashes with an enormous amount of length and curl but without clumping, which is the biggest problem I’ve had in the past. I’ve also never owned a waterproof mascara (I know, can you believe that), but Lash Architect 4D has a waterproof version which I’ve stashed away for those tear-jerking occasions – weddings, my sister’s graduation, the next time I watch The Notebook ... you know what I’m talking about. - Lucy

False lashes are still a novelty to me especially when they have jewels like these glammed up Britney Lashes. The lashes are shaped with points like stars and mini jewels are placed across the top of the lashes so they sit along the lash line. The falsies are easy to apply, and glue is included in the pack which helps when applying and is great to have if you want to re-use them. They feel light on your eyes and peel off really easy, but not easily enough to fall off. I like that the lashes add a touch of glamour without being too over the top. - Liz

This summer, nails are all about the pastels for me. Think purples, pinks, apricots and even blue. The Rokk 96 range has really ignited my passion for pastel with pretty offerings including new personal favourites Mauve is Me, Apricot and Smooth Operator. Now the only issue I have is choosing which one to wear each day – maybe I should just do a Beyoncé and wear a couple of different shades at once! - Yelena

I must admit, prior to this trial I was a bit of a D-I-Y waxing sceptic, however, with bikini weather fast approaching and my trusted beauty therapist booked solid - I decided to bite the bullet and put my D-I–Y beauty skills to the test. After procrastinating by reading the instruction three times over, I pulled out my first strip and warmed it up in-between my hands. I then pulled the strips apart and placed one on my leg in the direction of my hair growth. I held my breath, closed my eyes and ripped. To my surprise, every single hair in the section was removed. I used the same strip five times before preparing a fresh strip. The redness was minimal and it didn’t seem to hurt as much as my salon visits (I think being in control of the ripping eliminated the shock element). The strips are soft and flexible making it easy to mould them to the shape of your legs and there was more then enough room to grip the strip without getting wax all-over your fingers. The perfect finish wipes then removed any traces of excess wax. Voila - all done without even stepping out my front door. - Bree
