After announcing back in June that she was leaving LUSH for a new position at SEPHORA, Megan Taylor is excited to reveal she has begun her role of marketing manager at the prestigious company. With SEPHORA launching in Australia in less than two months, bd sat down with Taylor to find out more about the position as well as SEPHORA’s big picture plans.
Is working at SEPHORA your dream job?
Yes!
What attracted you to the role?
The opportunity to launch such a wonderful brand into the Australian market is hugely exciting and such a privilege. Like many Australian women, I have spent a lot of my overseas holidays in SEPHORA stores stocking up on beauty supplies - and having to buy an extra suitcase to carry them home. So from a professional AND personal standpoint, I am thrilled SEPHORA is finally hitting our shores this December! To work for the global leader in beauty and have a blank canvas in terms of marketing is a rare opportunity. I'm very lucky to be a part of this experience.
What will the position involve?
The position will involve helping to bring the SEPHORA brand DNA to life through marketing platforms such as events, promotions, social media, PR and in-store activities. SEPHORA's core values are fun, innovation, exploration and fearlessness, and the marketing initiatives we roll out upon launch will embody these four things.
What are the big picture plans for SEPHORA in Australia?
SEPHORA is the global leader in beauty. Our big picture plan is to ensure this reputation is upheld in the Australian market. SEPHORA's here to reinvigorate and enliven the way we currently shop for our beauty needs. It's hugely exciting to be able to offer SEPHORA to Australian customers, who have craved it over the years after having experienced the brand on their travels through the US, Europe and Asia. The experience for Australian customers will be one of absolute fun and freedom to shop. Their time in-store will be experiential in terms of elevated customer service as well as a fun-filled environment. Of course, the linchpin of the SEPHORA experience is discovering new trends and exploring new-to-market brands. We have curated a lustworthy set of exclusive brands such as Marc Jacobs Beauty, Kat Von D, Tarte, Formula X and of course our very own SEPHORA Collection, which we expect will be hugely popular in Australia.
How does SEPHORA select the brands to be featured in-store?
We have a regional and local category team who manage this process and determine which brands will be included in-store.
How often will SEPHORA review new brands to consider?
I believe this is still being finalised.
Do you have any tips for brands wanting to approach SEPHORA?
