A new eyeshadow palette from beauty brand The Balm Cosmetics is spurring controversy online due to the apparent racist connotations of the shade names.
The Meet Matt(e) Trimony eyeshadow palette is causing confusion over the supposed ‘racist’ names for the nine different shades within the palette.
The colours have been given the forename ‘Matt’ with surnames that allegedly correspond to that hue, such as Matt Lin for a pale, yellow tone, Matt Ahmed for a dark black shade and Matt Kumar for a brown colour.
