The latest celebrity to throw their hat into the skincare ring

On February 1, award-winning singer/songwriter John Legend is set to launch his affordable new skincare range ‘Loved01’.

After hugely successful brands like Fenty, Rare Beauty and Haus Labs paved the way for celebs joining the beauty space, Legend is the latest A-lister to break onto the scene.

Unlike Legend’s celeb counterparts, Loved01 skincare is focusing on melanin-rich skin types, with the musician bringing awareness to the minimal selection available to people of darker skin tones.

The range has been formulated and approved by industry renowned dermatologist Naana Boakye and promises to be more inclusive. Not only with its skincare benefits, but also its price tag, with no product costing more than $15 USD.

Legend was recently interviewed about the launch and spoke to its affordability, explaining “We couldn’t price the products in a way that a lot of Black and Brown people couldn't afford knowing that there's an income gap—we didn't want to do that.”

Launching with six products, a face-and-body wash, face-and-body moisturiser, an exfoliating scrub, a toning mist, a face-and-body oil and a shave cream. Love01 has been crafted with a slightly more acidic pH level to aid with hydration, with the stars of the show being sea buckthorn oil and rosehip oil, to help restore and rejuvenate the skins barrier.

Unfortunately, there is still no mention as to when the range will hit the Australian consumer market, however we will be keeping a close eye on this one.
