Afterpay releases its bi-annual fashion and beauty trend report

Ahead of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week (May 31 - June 4), Afterpay has released its Afterpay Bi-Annual Global Fashion Trends Report, revealing the hottest items for Australian fashionistas over the cooler months.

With shoppers more financially conscious than ever and 50% actively seeking out ways to save, the Afterpay Bi-Annual Global Fashion Trends Report, which forecasts upcoming trends based on recent Afterpay customer purchases, will help Aussies responsibly plan and budget for their seasonal wardrobe.

So what trends are upcoming?

In the beauty space, themes of self-care are coming through. From hair oil to sunscreen, shoppers are choosing to stay protected throughout the winter.

SPF: SPF is trending (as it should!) with Aussies keeping up their sun-safe tendencies going into winter. Wearing SPF every day is super important in the harsh Aussie sun to protect the skin from damage and early signs of ageing.

BD recommends: Rodan + Fields REVERSE Brightening Defense Fluid Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF; Natio Clear Urban Defence Moisturiser SPF; and Bondi Sands Hydra UV Protect SPF 50+ Spray.

Brows: It seems that perfectly groomed eyebrows are a must-have for Aussies with eyebrow kits continuing to be in high demand.

BD recommends: Finishing Touch Flawless® Brows; benecos Eyebrow Gel; and Revlon ColorStay Brow Fiber Filler™.

Hair oil: Aussies are preparing for the dryness of the winter months, stocking up with a range of oils to help nourishing their hair and promote hair growth.

BD recommends: Wella SP Luxe Oil Reconstructive Elixir Hair Oil; Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Hair Oil Spray; and Sebastian Professional Dark Oil Hair Styling Oil.

Colours?

Colours that represent and celebrate skin tone in chocolate, camel and nude are becoming increasingly popular IRL and on Instagram. While deep olives, jade and mint are also trending and are associated with nature, serenity and being grounded.

Lilac blew up when Oprah wore it in her interview with Meghan and Harry, and we predict we will continue to see hints of this hue as we move into the cooler months.

The IT List:

As we’re starting to celebrate big events like weddings again, Aussies are taking this opportunity to get frocked up in gorgeous gowns. We still like to keep it casual and comfortable though, with a henley or t-shirt under overalls being the perfect weekend outfit as we head out and about in the winter sun. And although we’re heading into the cooler months, it’s important to continue wearing sunscreen to protect our skin.

Here is the Afterpay top 10 IT list to keep an eye out for:

1. Denim overalls

2. Lingerie

3. Henley

4. Gowns

5. T-shirts

6. Essences / fragrances

7. Sunscreen

8. Nail polish

9. Brow kit

10. Hair oil
