Oz Hair & Beauty reveals 2021 beauty predictions

According to Oz Hair & Beauty – one of Australia’s leading and fastest-growing online stores for premium hair, beauty and skincare products – there are a myriad of products in the beauty market that can transform a skincare routine.

From delivering that sought-after glow to hydrating dull complexions, founder Anthony Nappa has compiled a list of skincare products and solutions that Oz Hair & Beauty forecasts will trend this year – and are proven to provide strong results.

Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is a natural sugar that our skin cells already produce, but can deplete over time due to ageing and damage from UV rays and pollution. It boosts the skin’s hydration and absorbs and locks moisture in place, ensuring it is vital for every skin routine. On top of its glow-inducing properties, it also reduces fine lines and wrinkles and restores the skin’s smooth, plump appearance, among many other benefits.

Vitamin B

While vitamin A and vitamin C have grown in popularity over the years, vitamin B is an underrated beauty product that really delivers on promises. It boasts a range of benefits and contains properties that work on all skin types, and is best used in the form of a serum. It can minimise enlarged pores by controlling sebum production and preventing debris and bacteria from penetrating the skin. It also contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea and eczema by reducing redness, regulating oil production and improving uneven skin tone and texture.

Peptides

As we age, our collagen production slows down and as a result our skin can fall victim to the signs of ageing and lose its firmness. Peptides – generally used in the form of moisturisers and serums – are a product that often flies under the radar but are a necessary addition to any skin routine. They have the ability to boost collagen production – restoring the skin’s elasticity, smooth texture and firmness. They also soothe inflammation, containing properties that help calm and soothe the skin.

Dry brushing

While it is important to have a strong skincare routine for our faces, our bodies are just as important. Just as the name suggests, dry brushing involves rubbing a dry bristle brush in gentle, circular motions all over the body. It essentially exfoliates the skin and buffs away dead skin cells, to reveal soft, smooth skin.

Gua sha

Gua sha is a centuries-old tool that is becoming increasingly popular. It is a daily staple for any skincare routine and can help alleviate headaches and joint pain, as well as reduce puffiness. Gua sha helps flush out toxins that can lurk behind the skin and promotes the production of collagen, resulting in a brighter, glowing complexion.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a sharp tool that acts as an exfoliator, removing fine hairs and dead skin cells from the face. It can result in a smoother texture and complexion, allowing for a better canvas to apply beauty products, including makeup. While usually left to professionals, there are a number of dermaplanes on the market that are easy to use in the comfort of your home. However, those with extra dry or acne prone skin should consult their dermatologist before trying out this product.

Dermarolling

Different to dermaplaning, dermarolling is a small handheld device that consists of three parts: a handle, roller and tiny pins. It works by making extremely small imprints in the skin, and the pins come in different sizes. Dermarolling can help combat common skin and hair problems by promoting collagen production, which pushes the body’s natural healing properties into gear, ensuring skin is prepared to repair, replenish and restore itself.
