Consumer products giant Unilever has announced it’s restructuring its management in order to support its growth plans, particularly in the emerging markets.
As part of the restructure, current president for Asia Africa, Central and Eastern Europe Harish Manwani will be appointed Chief Operating Officer, thereby taking responsibility for all markets from September. Dave Lewis, currently president, Americas, is also being promoted to president, Personal Care, a category that encompasses skin, deodorants, oral and hair.
Unilever says the changes will allow for a more efficient roll-out of bigger and more scalable innovations, and the optimisation of resources behind strategic priorities.
Unilever now has more than half its turnover in the emerging markets, where, over the last 10 years, growth has been close to double digits,” said Unilever CEO Paul Polman. We have an opportunity to better support this footprint of the business, to keep our strong momentum, with a more globally aligned country and category organisation.”
The company said the changes will be put in place during the third quarter and will be fully operational before the end of the year.
