Remington Colour Protect Therapy straightener
Being a fake redhead, any product that promises to prolong my hair dye is going to get a run with me. The new Colour Protect Therapy straightener is infused with conditioners that are distributed over the hair to seal in colour and slow down the fading process that usually comes with using heated styling tools. I found this straightener was great at actually straightening my hair, and it didn't dry out the hair despite me repeatedly going over sections. I'm putting this down to the Remington SMART Sensor, which detects the moisture level in the hair and then adjusts the temperature accordingly. Clever little thing, really. And while it's hard to measure how much fading is being prevented due to the straightener, my hair was still shiny after I used it and didn't have that crunchy over-styled feel to it. That makes it a keeper in my book! – Michelle
The phrase time poor” is mentioned daily of late in the beauty world, so what better than a straightener that can work on hair that's still a little damp. Wet-to-dry straighteners can frighten some people because traditional straighteners used on wet hair makes sizzling noises, which actually means your hair is in the process of being fried. The good thing about the VS Sassoon Wet & Dry Straightener is that it’s actually very gentle on the hair. It has tiny holes near the floating plates to let the steam out, and has a handy lock that keeps the straightener closed. It can take on any hair type, including thick and curly, because of its high heat of 230˚C. It heats up quite quickly and leaves the hair smooth and shiny. But take note: this straightener should not be used on sobbing wet hair, it can be used on semi-damp towel-dried locks or dry hair. - Liz

Remington Styles Unlimited
I’ve always been a bit cautious when it comes to hair tools that offer an alternative to the traditional straightener. Because of this, I’ve never got into the whole cone-styled options. The Remington Styles Unlimited was the perfect introduction into this market, as it has an interchangeable design to see it being transformed from an open split barrel for straight hair to the closed cone for curled and wavy styles. As well as being able to create a variety of styles, the Styles Unlimited has a variable heat range, automatic safety shut-off and cool tip. Brilliant! – Yelena
The new version of bd’s VS Sassoon favourite, the Wave Magic, the Big Hair Soft Curls Styler works in a similar way; with no clamp, users simply wrap sections of hair around the wand for big, soft Lauren Conrad-style curls. With four heat settings, you can tailor the styler to the temperature your hair requires – in my case, this is a very hot 210 degrees. I found it easy to use and hot enough that I didn't have to hold the hair in place for long at all. It also allows you to do quite big sections at a time, so it really doesn't take much time at all. While I may not look like Lauren yet, my hair is definitely getting closer… - Lucy
