Men reveal that make-up matters

Romanticism aside, online dating still remains a matchmaking game of appearance. The online dating site, Zoosk, has found that women are three times more likely to get a date if they are wearing eyeshadow, lipstick, and blush in their profile pictures.

After 1,800 male members evaluated 1,200 female profiles, Zoosk has found that eye make-up was the most effective in scoring a match. The study revealed that women wearing eyeshadow were 139 per cent more likely to receive first contact than those who didn’t.

Lipstick came in a close second, with women who wore it receiving 119 per cent more messages, and those who wore blush or bronzer were 24 per cent more likely to be contacted.

The findings also revealed that men preferred ‘au-natural’ make-up, and 66 per cent found dark make-up unattractive. Surprisingly, 57 per cent found red lipstick to be a turn-off when it comes to choosing a first date.
