Bio Sculpture addresses gel manicure safety concerns

is emphasising the safety of their products following a study in the US which lead to a global concern about the possible safety hazards of gel manicures.

A report into gel manicures by Dr. Chris Adigun of The Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology found gel manicures can lead to nail weakness, brittleness and thinning and that the UV light needed to cure the gel manicure is a risk factor for skin cancer.

Bio Sculpture disputes both claims in regards to its products. Because Bio Sculpture Gel consists of a pure gel formula rather than a hybrid of gel mixed with either acrylic or a similar material, there is no need for potentially damaging primers or bonders. This leads to the Bio Sculpture Gel promoting hydration of the nail, with the natural nail actually improving in quality with continued use.

With independent testing of its curing lamps receiving a 5 Star safety rating and having recently moved to a LED system, Bio Sculpture lamps are unlikely to pose a skin cancer threat. A safety test by the Australian Radiation Authority found the recommended exposure times for curing the gel should not constitute a risk.

For increased safety, Bio Sculpture has introduced special UV fingerless gloves to offer added protection for their customers. Professor Brian Diffey PhD, Newcastle University, UK, claims that wearing these gloves during a Bio Sculpture treatment can reduce what is an already very small risk to virtually zero.”

Bio Sculpture Gel Australia representative Talya Bergmann adds, To us, client safety is paramount, and we want to reassure women that they don’t need to give up on the vast benefits of wearing gel nails. Rather than health risks, the Bio Sculpture Gel system provides proven health benefits, supported by our 5 Star safety rating.

The commitment that we have undertaken to have our products and most importantly our curing lamps tested, demonstrates our guarantee and commitment to offering the safest nail system and products on the market.”
