As athletes put in hours of work in the pool, track or field in preparation ahead of the London Olympics, so did nail technicians spend endless time in the salon honing their skills ahead of the Nailympics Competition USA 2012.

Founded in 2001, the Nailympics is a leading international nail competition and attracts thousands of competitors from over 50 countries across the globe. Hosted by the International Beauty Expo in Long Beach, California last month, it was USA’s Christian Mans that took out the gold in both the French Sculpture Division 1 category and the Mixed Media Art Division 1.

In the Mixed Media Art Division, Mans impressed the crowd and judges with his unique design of 3D gel bows and ribbons using Bio Sculpture Gel. Mans used Bio Sculpture’s Clear Gel, Sealer Gel, S-Gel and gel colours #1, #65, #95, #2027, #2029 and #2052 for his gold medal performance.

But while the competition might be over, it’s still all go for the teams involved with the nailympians. Mans’ teammate, Bio Sculpture head of international education Vanessa Venter, is set to head to Australia to demonstrate how to get winning nail looks at the Sydney International & Beauty Expo.

The Expo will be held on August 11 and 12, where Venter will be covering all the latest Bio techniques as well as introducing a step-by-step Nail Art Manual. Venter will also be holding nail workshops in Sydney on August 13 and 14, Brisbane on August 16 and 17 and Melbourne on August 20 and 21. To reserve a spot, call 1300 246 435.
